Dear Reader:

I am currently seeking listeners with hearing impairment (Age: 40-80 yrs; no hearing aid experience or at least no experience in the past 2 years) to participate in my dissertation research study.

The goal of the study is to obtain information that will help improve adjustment to digital hearing aids. It involves being fitted with digital hearing aids, performing a pitch discrimination screening, completing a pre-training test battery, participating in 10 days of training, and completing a post-training test battery. The pre- and post-training test batteries involve a measurement of pitch perception ability, consonant and sentence identification in quiet and noise, and a hearing aid benefit questionnaire.

The study requires only about 15-17 hours of your time, and the benefits of completing this study include: a free hearing evaluation, a free ten-day trial period with state-of-the-art digital hearing aids. In addition, you will receive either a digital hearing aid at no cost or a discount of $200 per any hearing aid purchased through the Callier Center for Communication Disorders.

If are interested in participating in this study, or if you have any additional questions, please contact me directly at 214.223.3959 or by e-mail at jack3@utdallas.edu.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
