A wireless FM Systems may be right for you!
This system consists of a small FM receiver worn by the listener and a FM transmitter worn or placed close by the speaker. The FM receiver may be attached directly to a Behind-The-Ear (BTE) hearing aid. This arrangement allows a reduction in background noise and a clearer speech signal to be delivered through the hearing aid.
The AALTA project is seeking willing participants for a free trial of an ear-level wireless FM system. If you qualify for the program, you will be fit with hearing aids and an FM system to be worn during the trial period. No equipment purchase is required. The system will be available for purchase at a reduced cost upon successful completion of the trial period.
Requirements for participation in this project are:
1) Current use of hearing aids – any style
2) Willing to wear Behind-The-Ear hearing aids with the FM system for 4-6 weeks
3) Willing to participate in four (4) – one hour group sessions to discuss pros/cons of the FM system and listening environments strategies. Spouse or family members included.
4) Willing to participate in at least one group outing to use the FM system. (for example, dinner in a noisy restaurant, a concert, or a play)
5) Willing to keep a journal of listening experiences
There would be no cost to the participant or family member for this FM trial, group sessions or outings.
